Promises you can catch us breaking.
Every failing company has values painted on a wall. Values cost nothing. So we write our promises the way open source writes freedom — not as values, but as terms: versioned, published, and incorporated into our terms of service. This covenant may be strengthened at any time. It may never be weakened for an existing customer.
§1 The conversation is answered.
When you speak to Neos, something that can change the product hears you. Every feature we ship credits the conversation it came from. There is no tier of customer whose voice we do not take.
§2 The price on the page is the price.
Every price is published. No renewal escalators, no add-on tax, no “call us.” If a price must rise, existing customers keep their price for at least a year and hear it from us first.
§3 Your data is sovereign.
Your data belongs to you — we hold it in trust, never as collateral. Everything you put in comes out: complete, in open documented formats, in one click, free, forever — including after you cancel. It is never sold, mined for advertising, or used against your interest. Export is a feature we maintain with the same care as booking.
§4 We see only what we must.
We request the narrowest data permissions that can do the job, we publish exactly what each one allows, and we never widen our access quietly. What we cannot see, we cannot lose, sell, or be subpoenaed for.
§5 Leaving is a button.
You can cancel or downgrade yourself, in the product, in under a minute, with no retention gauntlet. If you leave, we will help you land: we publish migration guides to our competitors.
§6 Small by design.
We are stewards of a common interest, not owners of a moat. We seek fair compensation, not maximization — which means a workshop, not an army. Your money pays the people who keep the grounds and answer the door, and we will tell you, roughly, where it goes.
§7 The Sunset Clause.
If we shut down, are acquired and discontinued, or stop maintaining the product, its source code is released to the public under an OSI-approved open source license. This is written into our terms as a binding commitment — an open source license with a trigger. The software you built your work on can outlive us. You are never building on sand.
§8 You can catch us.
This covenant is public and versioned. Every change is announced, dated, and explained. If we break a clause, say so — out loud, where others can see. That is the enforcement mechanism, and we accept it.
The amendment rule
This covenant is versioned. It may be strengthened at any time — a stronger promise binds us the day we publish it. It may never be weakened for an existing customer: if we ever walk a clause back, everyone active at the time keeps the version they signed under. Every change is announced, dated, and explained, so you can diff any prior promise against this one.
Change history
The eight covenant clauses were published and incorporated into the Terms of Service. Per its own amendment rule, the covenant may be strengthened at any time and may never be weakened for an existing customer.
A manifesto about conversation cannot end with a period. It has to end with a question. So:
