What we ask Google for
So a booking link can't offer a slot you're already committed to. We request the granular free/busy scope, which cannot return event titles, guests, descriptions, or attachments — that limit is enforced by Google, not just promised by us.

Google's consent screen puts a tick box beside each permission. Clear the calendar one — easily done on a phone — and your booking page still loads, still looks right, and offers nobody a single time. It is a working page that behaves like a dead one, and the person most likely to discover it is a guest who gives up and says nothing.
Google deprecated the setting applications used to ask for all-or-nothing consent, so that box is permanent and no product can opt out of it. Questions before you connect.
Signing in with Google and approving the scopes is about thirty seconds, and your booking link exists before you configure anything. Getting it to offer times you actually want takes longer — that is the weekly-hours step, and it is where the real thinking is.
Yes, and you tick which ones count. Most people have a work calendar, a personal one, and something subscribed like a sports fixture list they emphatically do not want blocking meetings. You choose per calendar, so a busy block in one does not have to mean an unbookable hour.
Automatically, on every plan. A confirmed booking becomes a real event on your calendar with a Meet link attached, so the person you are meeting has somewhere to go without you sending a second message.

Both. The scopes and the behaviour are the same either way, and there is no tier of Google account we turn away.
Google's is inside Workspace and gated by plan tier — the recurring complaint is people on Business Starter discovering they cannot use it. Ours is free up to three hosts on a shared team link, works across Google and Microsoft calendars at once, and does not require everyone you work with to be on the same Workspace. If you are entirely inside one Workspace and already pay for a tier that includes it, theirs is a reasonable answer and we would rather say so.
